This page collects the short answers. If you want the detail behind any of them, each answer links to the fuller guide. Everything below reflects what we know ahead of the international launch, and anything unconfirmed is labelled as such — check in-game once the game is live for the authoritative version.

When does Monster Hunter Outlanders launch?

It is scheduled to launch internationally on October 29, 2026 for iOS and Android. Exact unlock times vary by region and app store, so check your store listing on the day. See the release date guide for details.

Is Monster Hunter Outlanders free to play?

Yes — it is a free-to-play mobile title with optional in-app purchases. The base game is free to download and play. Our gacha & contracts guide explains how the optional spending systems usually work.

Which platforms are supported?

It is built for iOS and Android at international launch, developed by TiMi Studio Group and licensed by Capcom. A console or PC version has not been announced for this release, so treat mobile as the platform to plan for.

Can I play it outside Japan, and is it region locked?

Availability depends on your region and the app store account you use. If the store page is missing or the game is unavailable where you are, the region lock guide and the download & install guide cover what to check.

Do I need a powerful phone to play it?

System requirements have not been fully confirmed ahead of launch. Modern mid-range devices are usually the target for this kind of mobile title, but check the official store listing for your region once it goes live.

What should I do in my first few hours?

Follow the opening quests, try at least two weapon types before committing, and avoid spending upgrade materials on gear you'll replace. The beginner guide walks through your first two hours step by step.

What is the egg-delivery challenge?

A carrying quest: take an egg from a nest to a drop-off point without being knocked over, falling, or dropping it off a cliff. Carrying advertises where you are, so you get chased — plan a route in advance, use ziplines and catapults to cut the distance, and carry gear built for movement. The field guide covers the route planning and the device tricks.

What are trial expeditions?

A tower of floors, each holding different monsters, cleared one after another. The early floors are gentle and good for learning weak points, difficulty jumps once the character passes level 20, and every clear rerolls a set of modifiers — some helpful, some not. They support up to four players. See the field guide for the full breakdown.

What is the dragon arena?

A competitive, ranked mode that puts elite monsters in one arena and scores you on clear speed — faster kills mean more rank points. Weapons can be swapped inside, and team score is pooled rather than counted per player. The field guide has the approach to its fights.

What are frontline outposts?

Forward bases built in the field and upgraded with wood. They gather resources over time rather than on demand, level 2 unlocks automatic hunting, and rewards have to be claimed from the outpost panel — they do not arrive on their own. Placement and build order are covered in the field guide.

How does the gacha and summon system work?

Summon-style systems trade a currency for randomised rewards — usually characters, gear, or materials — with rotating featured banners and some form of pity guarantee. The exact rates and rules are not public before launch. Our gacha & contracts explained page covers how these systems generally behave.

Is Monster Hunter Outlanders pay-to-win?

The core loop — hunting, crafting, and upgrading — is playable for free, and spending typically buys speed and cosmetics rather than access. As with most live-service games, some pressure to spend appears around limited banners, so decide your own limit in advance. See is it worth playing in 2026?

How do launch events and pre-registration rewards work?

Pre-registration campaigns usually unlock milestone rewards once the game launches, and launch windows add login tracks and time-limited event quests on top. Claim everything early, because most launch rewards expire. The launch events & rewards page explains the details.

Can I play with friends?

Co-op hunting is a core part of the series and is expected to be supported online. Group content runs through the four-player joint hunt mode, which spans three classes, and cross-region play and invite details can vary, so check in-game once it's live. The co-op guide covers party setup, classes and shared rewards.

Which weapon type should beginners pick?

There is no wrong answer, but weapons with reach and safety make the first hours easier on a touchscreen. Try two types before committing, and don't invest heavy materials until you know what feels right. See the best weapons for beginners page.

Is it worth playing in 2026?

For Monster Hunter fans who want a portable hunt, yes — especially during the generous launch window. If you want a premium, offline, or controller-first experience, it's reasonable to wait and see how the game develops. Our verdict page has the balanced version.

How often is this site updated?

Core pages are reviewed through the launch window and updated whenever patch notes or store listings change. Each page shows a Last updated date, so you can judge how current it is.
