Cookie Notice
This Cookie Notice explains what cookies are, which categories this site uses, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which covers our wider data practices.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to store on your device. They let a site remember things between page loads or visits — for example, your light or dark theme preference — and they help the site and its partners measure traffic or display advertising. Similar technologies, such as local storage and pixels, work in comparable ways, and we include them under the same term here.
What we use
We group the cookies and related technologies used on this site into three categories.
Strictly necessary
- Needed for the site to function, such as remembering whether you accepted this notice or your light/dark theme choice.
- These do not require consent, because the site cannot work properly without them.
Analytics
- Help us understand how many people visit, which pages are read, and how visitors arrive.
- Typically set by a web analytics service (for example Google Analytics 4).
- Data is used in aggregate to improve our guides. These cookies are only set with your consent where consent is required.
Advertising
- Set by third-party ad networks (for example Google AdSense or Ezoic) and their partners.
- Used to measure ad performance, limit how often you see the same ad, and personalise advertising.
- This is how a free fan site like ours stays online.
Consent for EU and UK visitors
If you are visiting from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, non-essential cookies (analytics and advertising) are only set after you give consent. On your first visit, an on-site consent banner asks you to choose between "Essential only" and "Accept all". Choosing "Essential only" keeps the strictly necessary cookies and does not enable analytics or advertising cookies.
How to change or withdraw consent
You can change your mind at any time:
- Use the buttons in our consent banner if it appears again, or reopen it by clearing the site's stored preferences.
- Clear the cookies already stored on your device through your browser's privacy or "clear browsing data" settings.
- Adjust per-site cookie permissions in your browser settings or through your browser's privacy controls.
- For advertising choices, use the ad-settings controls offered by our advertising partners (for Google, your Google account's ad settings).
Blocking all cookies may affect how parts of the site behave, but the guides themselves remain readable.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice as our practices change. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the current version.
